From clustervisor-announce at lists.advancedclustering.com Fri Feb 14 10:30:02 2025 From: clustervisor-announce at lists.advancedclustering.com (ClusterVisor Announcements) Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2025 10:30:02 -0600 Subject: [clustervisor-announce] ClusterVisor 1.25.02-4447 Released Message-ID: Today marks the 24th anniversary of the founding of Advanced Clustering Technologies back on February 14th, 2001. To honor the occasion we have a few announcements for the upcoming 2.x release of ClusterVisor. In the upcoming release, the new Slurm installer and integration into ClusterVisor will be moved out of beta. The new installer helps ensure the version of Slurm is compatible with integrating into ClusterVisor so you can upgrade with confidence. The new tooling will also make it easier than ever before to install and upgrade Slurm on your cluster. This also allows for more of Slurm to be configured and changed using ClusterVisor to help simplify administration of the job scheduler. The 2.x release will also feature a new node provisioner to replace Cloner. The new provisioner provides full integration into ClusterVisor to allow the whole process from start to finish to be done from both the command line and the web interface. While the nodes are being provisioned you can now monitor in real time the progress for each of the nodes until they have all been successfully deployed and ready for use. It also includes a more robust disk layout editor to allow for modifications to the disk configuration with ease, as well as a more stable bootloader to help mitigate breaking changes to the OS that can otherwise occur after upgrades to new point releases. This will allow us to better support the upcoming release of EL10 as well as handling other architectures like ARM. These changes and more are projected to be available to anyone with a valid ClusterVisor 1.x license during Q2 later this year. Stay tuned to this mailing list to know when that is released. In addition to the announcements above, since our last announcement we have had a few minor releases pushed to help with some small bug fixes. None on their own were anything to get excited about, but there are enough of them now that upgrading is worthwhile for anyone still using the September release from the last announcement.
